Supported Panasonic P2 Cameras
HPX Converter is a macOS app for converting Panasonic P2 MXF footage to MOV. Every camera below records to the same P2 card structure — separate video and audio MXF files plus CLIP XML sidecars — and HPX Converter is built around that workflow.

How P2 camera support works
Panasonic P2 cameras do not store finished movie files on the card. They write MXF media into VIDEO and AUDIO folders, with pairing data in CLIP XML. HPX Converter reads that structure, pairs tracks when UMID verification succeeds, and exports Apple ProRes MOV files numbered in shoot order.
The app was developed and tested with HPX170 footage. If you shoot on another model listed here, run the free trial on five clips from your own card before a full batch.
Panasonic HPX170
The HPX170 is a compact P2 camcorder popular with action sports filmmakers, student productions, and independent shooters who still love the look and workflow of P2. HPX170 cards arrive as MXF with CLIP sidecars — exactly what HPX Converter expects.
Convert HPX170 P2 MXF to MOV on Mac in one batch: drop the card folder, review pairing, and export ProRes MOVs without opening Premiere. See the dedicated HPX170 workflow guide for step-by-step ingest tips.
Panasonic HVX200
The HVX200 helped define the early P2 era and still shows up on documentary, event, and legacy broadcast jobs. HVX200 P2 footage uses the same VIDEO, AUDIO, and CLIP layout as other Panasonic P2 cameras.
HPX Converter pairs HVX200 MXF clips using CLIP XML metadata when verification succeeds, then writes MOV files you can preview in Finder or hand off to any editor. Read the HVX200 workflow guide for a focused walkthrough.
Panasonic HPX250
The HPX250 is a shoulder-mount P2 recorder aimed at ENG and corporate production. Cards from an HPX250 follow the same P2 folder structure — separate MXF streams and CLIP metadata rather than a single self-contained file.
If you need to convert HPX250 P2 MXF to MOV on Mac without Media Encoder, point HPX Converter at the card root and test with the free trial on your own footage first.
Panasonic HPX300
The HPX300 is a full-size P2 camcorder built for newsrooms and field crews that need reliable P2 ingest. Like other P2 bodies, it records MXF to standard card folders rather than plain QuickTime files.
HPX Converter batch-converts verified HPX300 clips to Apple ProRes MOV on macOS — useful when you want finished files for archive, client review, or a quick proxy pass before the edit.
Panasonic HPX370
The HPX370 continues the P2 line for broadcast and documentary crews who prefer tapeless cards over file-based SSD workflows. HPX370 cards contain the familiar P2 trio: VIDEO, AUDIO, and CLIP directories.
Use HPX Converter when you want MXF-to-MOV conversion on Mac without standing up a Premiere ingest project — especially for dailies, string-outs, or handing drives to producers who just need playable files.
Panasonic HPX500
The HPX500 is a higher-end P2 recorder for productions that need more lens options and shoulder ergonomics. Its P2 cards still use the same MXF + CLIP XML structure HPX Converter is designed to read.
Convert HPX500 P2 MXF footage to MOV on Mac in shoot order, with paired audio when CLIP metadata verifies the match. Start with five clips in the free trial to confirm your specific card and firmware combination.
Not sure if your camera fits?
If your Panasonic camera records to a P2 card with VIDEO, AUDIO, and CLIP folders, HPX Converter is built for that layout. Cameras outside the list above may still work — the free trial exists so you can verify on real footage before buying.
