Built for P2, properly

Everything Premiere does for pairing — without Premiere.

HPX Converter pairs audio using CLIP XML metadata by UMID when verification succeeds — the same approach Premiere uses — instead of guessing filenames.

Verified audio pairing

Pairs video and audio using CLIP XML metadata by UMID when verification succeeds.

Shoot-order numbered exports

Names output files in verified shoot order (001.mov, 002.mov, …).

ProRes 422 HQ

Exports Apple ProRes MOV files (422 HQ by default).

No Adobe required

Convert cards without opening Premiere or Media Encoder.

Source timecode tag

Writes the video MXF's timecode to the output MOV when the source file includes one.

Batch conversion

Drop a full P2 card and walk away.

How it works

From P2 card to Finder in four steps.

No project setup. No media browser. No render queue.

Insert or copy your P2 card

Use a card reader or a local copy of the card's folder structure — either works.

Drop the full P2 folder into HPX Converter

VIDEO, AUDIO, and CLIP folders are scanned; audio is paired using CLIP XML metadata when verification succeeds.

Choose an output folder

Pick where the converted files should land, or use the remembered default.

Get clean ProRes MOVs

Numbered in shoot order, with paired audio when verified, ready to drop into any editor.

Supported cameras

HPX Converter reads the standard VIDEO, AUDIO, and CLIP folder layout used across Panasonic P2 recorders — from the HPX170 and HVX200 to larger ENG bodies. See the full list on our supported cameras page.

Everything you need for Panasonic P2

Learn how to import, convert, edit, and archive Panasonic HPX and HVX footage.

No. HPX Converter is a standalone macOS app — you do not need Premiere or Media Encoder to convert P2 cards to MOV. Read the Panasonic P2 converter guide for an overview of the workflow.
HPX Converter expects the standard P2 folder layout (VIDEO, AUDIO, CLIP). It was developed and tested with HPX170 footage. See supported cameras for notes on HPX170, HVX200, HPX250, HPX300, HPX370, and HPX500.
Mount the card or copy its folder to your Mac, then drop the card root into HPX Converter. The app scans CLIP metadata and queues clips in shoot order. Our Panasonic P2 converter guide walks through the full ingest process.
P2 cards store separate video and audio MXF files. HPX Converter pairs them using CLIP XML metadata when verification succeeds, then exports Apple ProRes MOV files. The MXF to MOV guide explains why P2 MXF is different from a single file.
Copy the card, open HPX Converter, review pairing, and batch convert to numbered MOVs — no Premiere project required. See the HPX170 workflow guide for step-by-step tips. Shooting on an HVX200? Try the HVX200 workflow guide.
When CLIP XML metadata verifies the match, audio is paired by UMID — the same approach Premiere uses for P2 cards. Exports are numbered in shoot order (001.mov, 002.mov, …). Clips that can't be verified are skipped by default rather than guessed.
The free trial converts up to 5 clips on your own P2 footage — same ProRes quality as the full app, no watermark. Download HPX Converter to install the trial on your Mac.

Stop opening Premiere just to view P2 footage.
