It converts standard Panasonic P2 card folders into numbered MOV files on macOS, pairing video and audio MXF using CLIP XML metadata when verification succeeds.
A full P2 card folder with VIDEO, AUDIO, and CLIP subfolders. Drop the card root or CONTENTS folder. Standalone MXF files are not supported.

Maximum Compatibility re-encodes to ProRes. Fast re-encodes to H.264. Neither mode adds detail beyond what the camera recorded.
Maximum Compatibility exports ProRes MOV (422 HQ by default). Fast exports H.264 MOV using hardware encoding. Fast is smaller and quicker; ProRes is larger and intended for editing mezzanine workflows.
Apple ProRes is an editing codec. HPX Converter writes ProRes video with PCM audio inside a MOV container.
A common delivery and playback codec. Fast mode uses hardware H.264 encoding for smaller MOV files.
Use ProRes when you want a large mezzanine file for editing. Use Fast when you want smaller files and QuickTime/Finder-friendly playback, if your HPX170 footage supports Fast mode.
By default, to a dated folder on your Desktop (for example 09-08-2026). You can choose another output folder in the app.

No. It reads the P2 folder and writes new MOV files. Original MXF files are not changed.

Not exactly. Log and Transfer is Panasonic's full card browser. HPX Converter only batch-converts verified clips to MOV.
